Many patients come to Cleveland Clinic feeling anxious before an operation. Our family of caregivers can offer them peace and comfort throughout their treatment to ease any concerns they may have. As a Surgical Services Support Technician, you will have opportunities to communicate with patients while transporting them to designated areas. Along with providing other technical support tasks, your role on the team is essential to providing a safe and sanitary operating room.

                         

Job Details

A caregiver in this position works varying shifts from 2:00PM - 10:30PM, 10:00PM - 6:30AM  or 1:00PM - 9:30PM

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Safely transport patients to designated areas per nursing requests.  Assist nursing caregivers during surgical cases as requested.  Maintain and control support services equipment and supplies.  Maintain the OR in an aesthetically safe and sanitary condition.  Enter job tasks into electronic computer software systems.  Assist in prepping and shaving patients for surgery.  Coordinate and maintain uniform room activities, such as locker assignments and scrubs. Properly handle and dispose of hazardous waste.  Comply with special cleaning requests for radioactive waste and infection control surgical cases.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

High School Diploma or GEDBasic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or willing to obtain within the new hire period  One year of customer service experienceExperience working in a team environment

Full range of body motion including ability to lift and/or bear the weight of 100 pounds with assistance, or more while pulling, lifting, pushing and transferring patients to and from various apparatusRegularly pushing moderate to heavy weight of 100 pounds or moreExposure to body fluidsMust be available for flexible scheduling according to the needs of the surgical areaPossible floating expected per assignment policies within the surgical support department
