Responsibilities
Prepare the procedure room with appropriate instrumentation, equipment and supplies. Demonstrate competence and understanding of sterile technique, sterilization, environmental controls and decontamination of instrument and equipment. Establish and maintain an organized sterile field and assure team members maintain the sterile environment. Assists the surgeon by providing visualization of the surgical wound and assists with wound closure and application of sterile dressings. Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy and physiology as it relates to surgical procedures. Apply basic knowledge of instrumentation for each surgical service with advancement in years of service. Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts in an accurate manner.
Qualifications
Graduate of Surgical Technologist program.Certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or the National Center for Competency Training (NCCT).Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) registration from the North Dakota Board of Nursing required.Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association (AHA).
