Requirements:
High School Graduate or equivalentGraduate of Surgical Technician School or 2 years experience as surgical scrub technicianGraduate of advanced surgical training as Surgical 1st AssistFirst Assistant certification requiredCurrent BLS required1 year experience as a Surgical First Assist preferred.Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to address patients, families and hospital personnelMust be able to work in a fast-paced, ever changing environmentAbility to flex hours and shifts due to fluctuations in patient acuity and staff availability.About the Job:
The Surgical Technician 1st Assistant as an assistant to the surgeon handles instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. The ST/FA, through active participation, assists in planning, implementing and ensuring quality patient care during the operative procedure.
