**Requirements:**
+ High School Graduate or equivalent
+ Graduate of Surgical Technician School or 2 years experience as surgical scrub technician
+ Graduate of advanced surgical training as Surgical 1 st Assist
+ First Assistant certification required
+ Current BLS required
+ 1 year experience as a Surgical First Assist preferred.
+ Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to address patients, families and hospital personnel
+ Must be able to work in a fast-paced, ever changing environment
+ Ability to flex hours and shifts due to fluctuations in patient acuity and staff availability.
**About the Job:**
The Surgical Technician 1st Assistant as an assistant to the surgeon handles instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. The ST/FA, through active participation, assists in planning, implementing and ensuring quality patient care during the operative procedure.
