**A Brief Overview**
Prepares for surgical procedures, directly assists the surgeon during procedures, oversees aseptic techniques of all personnel involved directly in the technical aspects of the surgical procedures and assists with clean up following surgical procedures. Assists with sterile processing of surgical equipment and procedures and the cleaning/packaging and sterilization of surgical trays and equipment for the facility. Acts as a resource to the patient care areas for the placement and location of all equipment and supplies for nursing and surgery departments.
**What you will do**
+ Performs all operative duties in accordance with established policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to preparing OR, monitoring aseptic technique of all team members, keeping sterile surgical field, mayo stand stands and instrument tables neat and dry as possible. Assists the surgeon/ circulating nurse during the procedure, within the scope of the law and department policies and procedures.
+ Achieves and maintains working knowledge of all OR machinery and equipment used on the sterile field.
+ Performs duties within established policies and procedures for the central supply area, including stocking of facility supplies. Assists in receiving and verifying correct orders.
+ Assists with all Endoscopy procedures and maintains a working knowledge of cleaning, disinfecting/sterilizing endoscopy equipment as well as transporting equipment/instruments for sterilization process.
+ Maintains stock levels of sterile supplies in sterile core, assists in collecting, transporting and distributing supplies as they relate to OR and may assist with delivery of additional supplies throughout facility.
+ Maintains working knowledge of appropriate sterilization methods and keeps precise documentation regarding the sterilization process according to department policies and procedures.
+ Assists in transferring and positioning patients from carts to the OR bed.
+ Takes responsibility and accountability for assisting in meeting the established departmental budget by making effective use of time/resources.
+ Assists with on-the-job training and orientation of new staff.
**Essential Qualifications**

**Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:**
+ Technical Certificate or three to six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
+ Less than 1 year Related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
**Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:**
+ Technical Certificate Satisfactory completion of an Operating Room Technician program
+ Certified Surgical Tech (CST) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) Upon Hire
