Baystate Health, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare quality and safety, is looking for a full time Surgical Technologists for the Labor & Delivery Unit.
SCHEDULE:
• 24 hours, days
• Call required
LOCATION:
• BMC Campus
• Springfield MA
What You Will Do:
Under the direction of the Unit Manager, RN Clinical Operations Coordinator and RN Service Leads the Surgical Technologist works directly under surgeon/physician guidance to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures.The Surgical Technologist must possess expertise in the theory and application of aseptic technique; demonstrate the ability to combine knowledge of human anatomy, the surgical process and procedures including instrumentation and advancing technologies.
What You Will Need:
Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology required. Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology Knowledge and maintenance of instrumentation, technical, and mechanical equipment and related supplies. Strong organizational and customer service skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced/high stress setting. AST (Association Surgical Technologists) certification requiredWhat You Need To Know:

This position is part of a career ladder and level will be determined by the organization. Unless otherwise required by certification, licensure or registration, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the minimally required education and/or experience listed.

Tech I
Associates of Science in ST
Or program accredited by Committee on Allied Health Education Association or have completed a structured training program and hold a professional equivalent
AST Certification*
*New hires will require certification if they had no experience in a surgical facility prior to July 1, 2013.
CPR-American Heart Association BLS
Tech II
Associates of Science in ST
Or program accredited by Committee on Allied Health Education Association or have completed a structured training program and hold a professional equivalent
AST Certification*
*New hires will require certification if they had no experience in a surgical facility prior to July 1, 2013.
CPR-American Heart Association BLS
Minimum of 2 years experience. 1-year employment at BMC or 2 years of comparable experience and attainment of competency on completion of orientation.
Tech III
Associates of Science in ST
