-- Previous surgical technologist experience and/or completion of a Surgical Technologist program is REQUIRED --

 

The Main Operationg Room Surgical Technologist performs “scrub” technologist duties for scheduled surgeries in the Main Operating Room, and assists with the draping and utilization of instruments for a particular surgery and age of the patient serviced.  Demonstrates knowledge in the basic principles of sterile technique and sterilization procedures.  Clinical ladder advancement opportunities available.

Qualifications

Education:

Successful completion of a Surgical Technologist program and/or have previous Surgical Technologist experience REQUIRED.Completion of Anatomy and Physiology classes preferred.High School graduate or equivalent required. Attends JCAHO, OSHA, and hospital/nurse manager-specified mandatory in-services.Obtains four contact hours in area of interest

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

Maintains current CPR certificationSurgical Technologist Certification preferred

Experience:

Previous experience in multiple surgical specialties is preferred. Responsibilities Performs duties in a capacity of “surgical” technician as prescribed by hospital policies and procedures.Assists in the orderly functioning of the Surgery Department.Performs appropriate intra-operative techniques to assist physician.Pursues educational opportunities to maintain and expand personal and professional goals.Actively participates in competency assessment process.Performs other job related duties as assigned.
