**Overview** **Fairview Health Services is hiring a Surgical Technologist for the Operating Room at our** **M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - West Bank and** **M Health Fairview Masonic Children's Hospital locations in Minneapolis, MN** **.** **We’re offering a $10,000 sign-on bonus along with a generous relocation bonus up to $5,000!** As a Surgical Technologist, you’ll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, arranging, and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the safety and efficiency of the operating room. **Schedule:** This position will be working 1.0 FTE. The shift length will be 8 hours on the day/evening/night shift with weekends rotating as needed. **Responsibilities Job Description** As a Surgical Technologist, you will be responsible for: + Supplying appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items. + Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures. + Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens. + Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments. + Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment. + Modifying clinical interventions based on population served. + Nurturing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking. + Anticipating the surgeon’s needs. + Following appropriate action in emergency situations. **Qualifications** **Required Qualifications:** + Complete one of the following by hire date: + Military Surgical Assistant; OR + LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; OR + Surgical Technologist training + Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date) + Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program + Certification eligible at time of hire **Preferred Qualifications:** + AST certification + 1 to 3 years surgical tech experience **Other Required Skills:** + Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of population served. + Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions. **Desired Skills:** + Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations. + Ability to work well under a team environment. + Excellent communication skills. + The ability to prioritize and multi-task in a complex work environment.
