Unlock your potential! **Job Summary and Qualifications** **The Surgical Technologist Extern delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services to support the efficient operation of the surgical suite. Under the supervision of the Circulating RN, the Surgical Technologist Extern assists the surgical staff in the perioperative process in accordance with the Surgical Technologist Extern’s skills/training and the needs of the Department, and consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment. The Surgical Technologist Extern is currently enrolled and in good standing in an approved school of surgical technology and can perform higher-level procedures once competency is achieved.** **What you will do in this role:** + **You will set up and manage instruments, equipment, and supplies for all surgical procedures** + **You will be responsible for maintaining a sterile field while passing instrumentation during an invasive procedure** + **You will perform appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed** + **You will assist in patient positioning, transporting, and obtaining needed equipment** + **You will clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization** + **You will assist in prepping room for the next patient** **What qualifications you will need:** + **High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred** + **Currently enrolled in an approved Surgical Technologist program** + **Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date** " **Memorial Hospital** has provided quality healthcare services since 1969, giving patients access to highly-trained physicians and advanced technology.
