Position Summary

​Surplus line taxes are a conglomerate of legal, accounting, and public relations knowledge. There are several duties a Surplus Lines Tax Associate must perform to succeed in their role. The Surplus Lines Tax Associate position involves:

Reconciliation of surplus lines tax transactions

Knowledge of required documents needed for filing and client records

Work with diverse personalities and build relationships with producers, account managers, state insurance regulators, and stamping offices

Work with regional licensing team

Responsibilities:

Provide assistance to producers and account managers regarding tax rates, affidavits, and home state designationSubmit required documents to states to facilitate timely filingsCoordinate payment of taxes and related feesAssist in the development and maintenance of surplus lines processes and proceduresAssist in reading and interpreting state surplus lines related administrative codeQualifications:

Experience in the insurance industry is preferred

Experience with Applied Systems (EPIC) is preferred

Strong problem solving abilities

Strong desire to learn and foster a community of compliance

Ability to compile, organize, and analyze data

Ability to understand and apply rules, regulation policy and procedures

Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities independently

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Strong attention to detail

Required Education: High school or equivalent
