Surveillance Technician

SUMMARY

The Grand Sierra Resort and Casino is seeking a talented and qualified individual to serve as a property Surveillance Technician. The Surveillance Technician is accountable for the installation, maintenance, and repair of all Surveillance equipment including surveillance cameras, digital recording system and access control systems. This position is responsible for service, support, and installation of large comprehensive integrated electronic security systems, including but not limited to complex access control, CCTV, and digital recording systems. Troubleshoots, maintains records, inventories equipment, and maintains replacement parts. The purpose of the systems are to protect company assets, revenue, resolve legal disputes and provide safety to all GSR employees and patrons. Maintaining compliance with internal standards, regulations and gaming regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Installs, operates, maintains, trouble shoots, and repairs technical investigative/surveillance equipment (e.g., telephonic intercept, video camera, video and voice transmitting, vehicle tracking, night vision systems, body wires, receivers, TV monitors , equipment matrix , surveillance switchers, digital system, data bases, CCTV equipment and repeaters, etc.) in compliance with federal, state and local laws. Able to perform the actions of troubleshooting, aligning, adjusting, repairing, and the systems, subsystems, and the associated circuitry to the satisfactory compliance of the operation specifications and user. Builds, configures, installs, and maintains video network servers and workstations for covert and overt video surveillance and telephonic intercepts. Programs routers, switches, and firewall equipment.  Configures and monitors VPN connections to service providers and users and backups/archives audio/video for evidentiary purposes. Researches, evaluates, makes recommendations, and procures or provides expertise in the procurement of technical investigative equipment. Designs, builds, installs, maintains, and monitors covert video systems, and GPS tracking systems. Downloads recorded audio and video from recorders and transmitters. Assists in the planning, placement and installation of cameras and support equipment. Maintains an inventory of electronic surveillance equipment and checks out equipment for use. Documents and maintains detailed records (e.g., service requests, location of equipment, time and parts used for repairs, travel claims, etc.). Schedules and/or coordinates services (e.g., repairs, installations, removal of equipment, preventative maintenance, etc.). Performs routine and systematic cleaning and preventative maintenance of video monitors, video cameras, pan/tilt motors and gears, system processor and controls, system peripheral equipment along with digital recording equipment. Must have the ability to troubleshoot, modify and understand large video switching systems within a casino environment. Must have the ability to support all environments as it pertains to digital recording equipment and software. Must have knowledge of current Electrical codes and be proficient in installing conduit and wire. Responds to 24-hours/day seven days/week emergency call-outs to perform and/or facilitate emergency equipment repairs anywhere technical investigative equipment is utilized.  Tests and evaluates new equipment to ensure that the equipment meets the parameters of gaming and stated manufacturer's specifications.  Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies. Maintains the highest level of discretion and confidentiality while performing assignment and duties. Maintains confidentiality of information on all Corporate Security and Surveillance personnel, investigations, projects and programs. Perform supportive functions and other duties as assigned within the scope of this job description to be determined by the supervisor based on business needs.                                                                                                                             

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a track record of performing each essential responsibility satisfactorily. Be able to sit for long periods of time and work in mid-level to low light.  Must have good vision and the ability to distinguish color.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  

Preferred experience: Sufficient knowledge of surveillance equipment such as cameras, monitors, keyboards and multiple computer functions. Ability to review, gather and interpret quantitative or qualitative data, make decisions based on the data and find solutions.  Must have the ability to work independently and in close quarters with others and remain alert throughout the duration of the shift.

EDUCATION

High School Diploma and GED preferred. Minimum 1 year of previous Casino Surveillance experience required or any combination of education, training, or experience listed that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. A Valid Nevada Gaming License is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must have exceptional oral and written communication skills.  A high level understanding of interpersonal skills to productively deal with business contacts and team members at all levels of the company. Possess a strong attention to detail. Have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from all levels of staff and Law Enforcement.  Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language in order to complete reports, correspondence and communicate with Team Members, peers and Management.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure and calculate figures and amounts.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations in a calm, professional manner. Ability to interpret and follow through on a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form. Excellent time management, problem solving and organizational skills are a must.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.  Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours.  Effective time management and multi-tasking abilities are a must, a professional appearance is required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION

Ability to obtain/renew all government required licenses or certification (Gaming Registration).
