Our dynamic Geomatics team is looking for a Survey Crew Chief in Ottawa, ON to work on projects in and around the region .  As the successful candidate you are organized and highly collaborative, with strong communication skills and an infectious positivity that impacts and motivates all team members. You have a strong ability to operate equipment and field tools, with a healthy respect for the great outdoors and the timeline of the task at hand. What you will do: + Manage and perform field survey work with the support of Survey Assistants. + Liaise with Project Managers to coordinate field survey work, review and manage project budgets, schedules, priorities, and survey methodology. + Liaise with client field representatives and landowners and be a brand ambassador for GeoVerra. + Prepare field notes, sketches, checklists, and digital data in required formats for different audiences. + Provide guidance, training and mentorship to Survey Assistants. + Contribute to the development and implementation of industry best practices, efficient field processes and procedures and the innovative use of new technology.  + Proactively participate in and support the GeoVerra safety program. + Complete office technical survey tasks as required and other duties as assigned. What you will bring: + Diploma/Degree in a post-secondary program related to surveying and geomatics or an equivalent experience. + Strong working knowledge of survey equipment and software such as GPS and Total Stations (Including Robotic). + Experience of Trimble equipment and software, laser scanning and line locating considered an asset. + Strong problem-solving skills in a field environment. + Effective verbal and written communication skills with the capacity to produce accurate and legible field notes. + The ability to develop and motivate survey staff and work well in a team environment. + An aptitude for delivering projects on time and budget. + MUST be eligible for Security Clearance from Government of Canada; candidates with valid clearance will be preferred. + A valid driver’s license and can provide a clean driver’s abstract; and + Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol screening as per the limits provided in the Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace Job Conditions: + Out of town work (possible shift work) and frequent travel required. + Ability to carry, lift and push up to 50lbs on a regular basis. + Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
