For individuals who can take the initiative but work well within a team.

The role

As a Survey Engineer or Senior Survey Engineer, you will be responsible for the mobilisation and operation of positioning and hydrographic survey equipment, including the acquisition and quality control of data onboard construction vessels. This role is varied and offers the opportunity to set up, test, and operate a variety of market-leading survey and positioning systems, as well as to collect, arrange, and present results from various survey sensors across the globe. Positions are available within our Geophysical and Asset Integrity service lines.

While offshore, you will be working closely with a team of Engineers and Surveyors to ensure all survey equipment is working effectively and data is collected efficiently and accurately. You will communicate regularly with the Party Chief onboard and onshore teams when required.

You will plan and supervise survey activities, including the setup, interfacing, testing, calibration, and operation of survey sensors. You will operate online survey software and monitor data quality to ensure the survey specification is achieved. Preparing reports, including damage and fault reports, will be part of your responsibilities. You will implement and review Planned Maintenance Systems as appropriate, maintain and administer the inventory of equipment and consumables, and supervise and provide training to staff.

This includes Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), which provide precise positioning data essential for accurate survey results. You'll be working with state-of-the-art GNSS receivers that ensure high accuracy and reliability. Gyrocompasses and Motion Reference Units (MRU) are crucial for determining the orientation and movement of survey vessels. You'll use advanced gyrocompasses and MRUs to ensure precise navigation and data collection. Ultra-Short Baseline (USBL) systems are used for underwater positioning and tracking. You'll operate cutting-edge USBL systems to accurately locate and track underwater survey equipment.

Multibeam Echo Sounders (MBES) are used to create detailed maps of the seafloor. You'll work with high-resolution MBES to capture comprehensive bathymetric data. Long Baseline (LBL) systems provide precise underwater positioning over large areas, and you'll use these systems to support complex underwater survey operations. Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) are used to provide accurate positioning and orientation data in challenging environments. You'll operate advanced INS to ensure the highest level of data accuracy. Digital Video Systems are used for visual inspections and documentation, and you'll work with high-definition digital video systems to capture detailed visual data. Additionally, you'll use industry-leading survey software to process and analyze data, ensuring that all survey specifications are met.
