Survey Mapping Technician II - Remote, US

Purpose Work with management to prepare and finalize documents for remote sensing projects, including but not limited to Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Lidar / photogrammetry projects, terrestrial mobile mapping, volume calculations, data extractions, and 3D modeling, in accordance with company standards, municipal / jurisdictional requirements, survey standards, and client requirements. May calculate mapmaking information and create maps from source data, such as surveying notes, aerial photography, satellite data, or other maps. May verify accuracy and completeness of topographical maps. Responsibilities Leadership and Direction Perform work under moderate supervision. Receive direction on moderately complex assignments, tasks, and execution. Work is frequently reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound techniques and principles. Review work produced by junior staff for quality assurance. At the Operational and Company Level Process, register, analyze, and provide QA/QC of internally collected mobile and UAS aerial LiDAR and photogrammetry data. Do the Work Process trajectory information and LiDAR sensor data into usable point clouds, including adjustment to project specific survey datums, quality control and reporting. Compile mapping features from photogrammetry, mobile and terrestrial LiDAR point clouds for topographic surveys. Perform in-depth point cloud classifications. Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to oversee the start and completion of projects with minimal supervision. Perform in-depth point cloud classifications. Identify data inconsistencies and communicate with the appropriate resources to provide accurate data updates as needed. Ensure quality standards for data collection, post processing, adjustments, final product creation, and client project requirements are met. Data analysis and interpretation skills. Qualifications High school diploma or GED, required, associate's degree preferred. Commensurate relevant experience considered. Three or more (3+) years of similar survey and mapping experience in the land survey industry. FAA Part 107 license preferred. Civil3D, MicroStation, Terrasolid, TopoDOT, PLS-CADD and other 3D modeling software experience is preferred. Knowledge of ArcGIS, Global Mapper, or other GIS software. Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures. Physical Demands and Working Environment Primarily indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic. Mobility around an office environment. Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Partly outdoor work environment which may include adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards. Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Frequent and prolonged use of data collection equipment and/or drones, necessitating walking the assigned study area to complete data collection over the course of several hours. Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds. Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.
