Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking a Survey Party Chief in the Wilmington area.\n

Responsibilities: \n\nPerform topographic surveys, boundary retracement surveys, ALTA surveys, as-built surveys, and control surveys\nPlan and coordinate the efforts of the survey crew and motivate them to accomplish the work safely, correctly and efficiently\nOperate robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, automatic levels, and data collectors\nPerform survey data processing and QC\nTrain junior survey technicians in the use of survey equipment, survey methods, and workplace safety practices\nEnsure the accuracy and completeness of the field survey work\nBe responsible for survey crew productivity and meeting project deadlines\nCommunicate with project stakeholders while working in the field\nClean, check, and adjust survey equipment\n\n

Skills and Qualifications:\n\nHigh school diploma or equivalent \nA minimum of four years of progressive field survey experience working under a licensed surveyor\nProficiency with operating GNSS receivers and robotic total stations\nAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, maps, and specifications\nAbility to take survey notes and make field sketches\/drawings\nExcellent time management and problem-solving skills\nProficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook\nHighly reliable with good communication and leadership skills\nMust be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and be able to stand up to 12 hours a day on occasion \nMust have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel and twist, use hands to grasp and arms to reach, to raise hands above head, to sit, climb and balance and to work in confined spaces and at heights\nMust be able to lift and carry up-to 50 pounds, on regular basis over rough\/uneven terrain\nMust have adequate vision to perform survey tasks and the ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions\nValid NC Driver's License with a good driving record and ability to drive\nMust have the ability to travel overnight\n\n

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:\n\nAssociates or Baccalaureate degree\nNSPS Certified Survey Technician (CST) Level III certification\nBasic CAD skills (Autodesk AutoCAD\/Civil3D)\nExperience with NCDOT route location survey practices and procedures\nCertified Drone Pilot (Remote Pilot Certificate; FAA Part 107)\n\n
