Our primary practice hubs are: + Measurement and statistics in large-scale surveys + Standards and assessment We are seeking a Survey Researcher with a focus on large-scale surveys to support contracts with federal and state government clients. The Survey Researcher will apply quantitative and qualitative research methods to improve the development, operations, and reporting for large-scale surveys. The Survey Researcher is expected to work on teams that conduct work on all aspects of survey methods and operations, quality management, and data analysis. Candidates hired for the position may work remotely within the United States (U.S.) or from one of ourU.S. office locations. Learn more about AIR's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Strategy and hear from our staff byclicking here (https://www.air.org/our-commitment-diversity-equity-and-inclusion) . **Responsibilities** The responsibilities for the position may include: + Assist in the design and review of qualitative and quantitative data collection instruments including survey questionnaires, interview protocols, and focus group protocols; + Support the development and execution of theoretically-sound, practical approaches to achieve the statistical objectives of a study or project, including supporting activities related to developing and evaluating sampling frames, selecting samples based on complex designs, or constructing weights for studies with complex designs; + Conduct technical reviews of data collection and data processing plans and specifications (e.g., sampling plan, editing and imputation specifications, non-response bias analysis plan) for accuracy, completeness, and technical soundness; + Perform quality checks of data files for errors and anomalies and communicating potential issues to the client; + Assist with the conduct of disclosure risk analysis on restricted- and public-use data files to ensure protection of the identity of individual respondents; + Disseminate study methods and results internally (e.g., memos or short oral presentations) and externally (e.g., technical reports, journal articles, or presentations at professional conferences); + Manage small- to medium-sized tasks, including: contributing to client meetings, planning and tracking deliverables, and overseeing junior analysts conducting quantitative analyses; + Provide input for technical sections and budget estimates for proposals; + Support learning opportunities for junior staff working on large-scale survey projects. **Qualifications** **Education, Knowledge, and Experience:** + PhD degree in fields such as survey methodology, statistics, economics, psychology, sociology, computer science, public policy, public health, or other social science related fields; or Masters with equivalent experience. + Proficient understanding of and experience with survey methodology, survey operations, survey data processing, and/or survey data analysis (e.g., questionnaire design, sampling, survey administration, weighting, data analysis). + Experience with federal surveys and large-scale datasets and knowledge of federal data collection standards is preferred. + Interest or experience in advancing survey methods using a variety of approaches and data collection techniques is preferred. **Skills:** + Ability to communicate effectively about survey methods, results, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences. + Strong attention to detail and commitment to rigorous quality control at every stage of data collection, preparation, and analysis. + Excellent organization and time management skills; ability and willingness to quickly learn new research methods when necessary. + Ability to collaborate within a team environment. **Disclosures:** Upon hire, incumbent will be required to obtain clearance through the Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing (e-QIP) system . AIR’s Total Rewards Program , is designed to reward our staff competitively and motivate them to achieve our critical mission. This position offers an anticipated annual salary of $85,000 - $115,000. Salary offers are made based on internal equity within the institution and external equity with competitive markets.
