Summary This vacancy is for a Survey Statistician position in the Center for Enterprise Dissemination located in any Federal Statistical Research Data Center within the U.S. Census Bureau. This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Survey Statistician, 1530-9, FPL GS-12 positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience. Responsibilities Respond to questions from and/or provide assistance to the internal/external data user community. Coordinate a program of research for subject matter experts using household and economic survey data. Plan, coordinate, implement, and monitor project activities for approved research projects using household and economic survey data. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Minimum Education Requirement: Degree: that included 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc. Credit toward meeting statistical course requirements should be given for courses in which 50 percent of the course content appears to be statistical methods, e.g., courses that included studies in research methods in psychology or economics such as tests and measurements or business cycles, or courses in methods of processing mass statistical data such as tabulating methods or electronic data processing. OR A combination of education and experience -- courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The experience should have included a full range of professional statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying statistical techniques such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance. AND Specialized Experience: For the GS-09, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: Communicating in-person and in writing to various audiences or stakeholders; applying statistical techniques, methodology, or methods; participating or assisting in a research and/or statistical project. OR Education: 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education Additional Information If hired for this position with the Census Bureau, you will be expected to telework a maximum of two days per week or four days per pay period. You will be expected to work from your duty station three days per week. Salary range reflects the lowest and highest base pay salary on the General Schedule pay scale.
