Responsibilities Perform hydrographic surveys using multibeam sonar and GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) Sets up, calibrates, and collects LIDAR scans using survey laser scanners. Oversees field surveys, data collection in support of the District's dredging operations Operate submersible ROV to record sonar and camera imagery to inspect structures, underwater objects, and other underwater features Perform all aspects of topographic surveying, including construction of bench marks, performance of leveling to connect bench marks to site surveys Perform site surveys of buildings, parking lots, utilities, roads, and any other features necessary to define and map specific areas. Process multibeam hydrographic survey data and upload all field collected data to office processing computer system. Specialized Experience GS-10: One year of specialized experience which includes meeting TWO of the following: 1) Plan survey procedures; 2) Assist with data discrepancy resolution; and/or 3) Ensure compliance with organizational regulations and procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Successfully completed Two and a half years (i.e., 45 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Surveying, engineering, construction, industrial technology. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 9.
