Surveyor
*The Spent Fuel Handling Project near Idaho Falls has an opening for a surveyor. Some duties include\:

·         Perform surveying tasks for a variety of project construction activities, including, but not limited to, dirt work, underground utilities, concrete features, building structures and components.

·         Utilize robotic total stations, theodolites, and other surveying equipment to perform accurate measurements and layout.

·         Conduct field surveys to establish base lines, locations, elevations, and other key reference points.

·         Ensure data collected is accurate and interpreted properly to assist in project planning and execution.

·         Collaborate with engineers, quality assurance, project managers, and construction teams to provide technical surveying support.

·         Maintain up to date knowledge of construction plans, established control points, specified tolerances, and specifications to ensure alignment with project requirements.

·         Monitor and document progress onsite, performing as built surveys and ensuring compliance with designs.

·         Troubleshoot equipment, verify calibration, and ensure all tools are functioning correctly before use, and properly secured when not in use.

·         Prepare reports, field notes, and drawings to present findings to engineering, quality assurance, and construction management teams.

·         Ensure compliance with state requirements, and adherence to Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) standards for surveying.

Qualifications\:

·         Civil Engineering background, or a related field is preferred.

·         Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction surveying (Civil, Earthwork, Utilities, building structures and components).

·         Proficient in Trimble GPS, TOPCON GPS, and total station systems for field surveying.

·         Strong understanding of earthwork, civil, and utilities construction and how surveying data integrates with construction processes.

·         Ability to read and interpret project drawings, plot plans, and specifications.

·         Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced construction environment.

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to nontechnical stakeholders.

·         Proficient in Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other CAD software is a plus.

·         - Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions, sometimes in physically demanding environments.

·         - Able to distinguish between Grid and Ground Coordinates.

·         Preferred Skills\:

·         - Certification as a Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) is a plus but not required.

·         - Experience with machine control systems and data management.

Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. Occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes.
