What will you do? Prepare sushi rolls, sashimi, nigiri, and speciality dishes according to standardized recipes and portion sizes Ensure all sushi ingredients are fresh, properly stores, and rotated according to food safety guidelines Maintain the highest standards of food preparation, presentation, and cleanliness at all times Set up and stock sushi station with all necessary supplies before services begins Maintain a clean and organized work area, including regular sanitation of surfaces and tools; following company and health department standards for food safety and sanitation Monitor inventory levels, assist with ordering supplies and minimize waste Interact professionally with guests when required, answering questions or making recommendations about menu items Work collaboratively with culinary and front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service Adapt quickly to changes in volume, menu items or service needs Perform opening, closing, and side work duties as assigned More about you At least one year of previous sushi preparation experience in a restaurant, catering or high-volume food service environment Knowledge of traditional and modern sushi preparation techniques Exceptional knife skills and attention to detail Ability to read and comprehend prep sheets and recipes Basic math skills, with the ability to calculate and follow recipe measurements Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays and events as scheduled Must be able to obtain Food Handler’s Certification Physical requirements Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs to and from freezers and ovens, reach up to seven feet, twist, bend, and squat Standing and walking for the entire length of shift in moderate to high noise levels Manual ability to chop, mix, blend, whip a variety of foods and liquids and operate kitchen equipment Exposed to variable temperatures Shift detailsDay shift
