This position is responsible for planning, overseeing and leading policy and advocacy activities for the Saint-Gobain Circular Economy Solutions business in North America. -This role will work closely with the Saint-Gobain North America Region businesses, ESG group and other relevant internal and external stakeholders to develop internal and public policy positions as it relates to sustainability and the development of circular economy models for each of the businesses. -
The role will develop these positions into internal and external policies and will be responsible for communicating these positions internally and externally. -This is a senior role that will be required to have a broad knowledge of our businesses, ESG issues relevant to those businesses and working knowledge of how public policy and customer preference impact our ability to work toward our mission of being the leader in light and sustainable construction as well as our purpose to make the world a better home.

+ Create and maintain policy monitoring systems tailored to issues of high importance for Saint-Gobain North America businesses.
+ Monitor and accompany legislative initiatives and policy trends in the fields of sustainability, ESG, circular economy, buildings and construction
+ Convene and lead a working group of representatives from across businesses to communicate policy developments, agree on positions, and solicit feedback on policy matters
+ Develop the advocacy and public affairs strategy and plan, in close cooperation with North American and Group leadership, the ESG group, Law Department, SGNA Communications and other relevant internal stakeholders
+ Advocate for Saint-Gobain’s interests in the field of circularity, buildings and construction, including through written comments and testimony and in meetings
+ Implement the advocacy and public affairs strategy and coordinate activities
+ Develop position papers consistent with SGNA and Group business objectives and other stakeholder priorities and represent the company towards stakeholders and institutions;
+ Proactively engage with policymakers and other stakeholders in relevant political institutions and associations, e.g. by arranging and driving meetings and organizing events.
+ Monitor and engage in relevant non-legislative initiatives around sustainable construction (Green building rating tools, Environmental Product Declarations, etc.); advocate for changes in these programs that are advantageous to SGNA.
+ Support the North American businesses in anticipating future market and legislative evolutions in their strategy
+ Provide expert analysis, advice, and strategy for North American businesses to advance specific policy priorities, including high-stakes policy matters that are prerequisite to meeting business objectives
+ Support the organization of site visits in company’s plants, in cooperation with business and management
+ Contribute to and shape the work of trade associations and other partner organizations, including through leadership roles within these organizations; advocate for Saint-Gobain’s interests within organizations
+ Build-up and maintain an advocacy network within and outside Saint-Gobain with all relevant stakeholders (policy makers, elected members, NGOs, academic, and other businesses)
+ Lead the implementation of new sustainability policies across businesses, including Extended Producer Responsibility laws in the U.S.; analyze complex legal requirements and guidance and synthesize information to clearly communicate requirements to businesses; lead cross-functional teams to implement new laws and regulations; develop and launch processes to minimize compliance and reputational risk; determine when external specialized expertise is needed and manage relationships with external consultants.
+ Manage an employee focused on leveraging government funding opportunities to implement sustainability and circular economy projects; provide direction, feedback, and guidance on priorities, strategies, and plans related to this new function; set goals and KPIs for securing and managing government funding; ensure SGNA businesses receive excellent customer service with regard to sustainability funding opportunities.
+ Work with the Law Department to establish and follow guidelines and procedures for conducting policy, advocacy, and government funding activities in compliance with all relevant state and federal laws and internal company policy on lobbying, competition, and government contracts, minimizing risk to the company.
+ Identify targeted research needs and conduct policy research, in close collaboration with partners; provide timely and actionable research products
**Qualifications**
• A higher education degree relevant to the job’s core competency areas-
• 7+ -years’ experience in similar function; experience in construction and building sector is a plus-
• Knowledge of institutional process in the US at federal and state levels
• Knowledge of the key industry associations, nonprofits, agencies, and advocates in sustainable construction, climate policy, and circular economy -
• Familiarity and experience with research and monitoring tools for legislation, regulations and other agency actions at the state and federal level
• Ability to understand complex policy proposals and analyze the impacts to the company
• Knowledge of the primary non-regulatory standards, certifications, and rating systems related to sustainable construction
• Driven, autonomous, dynamic and engaged personality. -Collaborative and skilled at working across a matrix organization
• Strategic mindset, excellent analytical skills combined with ability to understand political dynamics and adapt to political changes
• Problem solving and sense of initiative, multi-task oriented, and eye for detail

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group including executives, managers, and technical staff. Must be able to distill information from multiple sources into understandable and compelling assets (powerpoints, emails, etc) for executives and decision makers. -Ability to articulate complex science-based information in a simple, understandable manner. Ability to craft persuasive messaging that is appropriate for the audience.-

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $108,100 to $172,900 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 15% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $124,300 to $198,800. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
