Sustainability Commercial & Insights Manager
Role Introduction

Reports to: Head of Sustainability Commercial and Innovation

Sustainability leadership is a key pillar of Cathay’s strategy. We have made significant strides as one of the first airlines in Asia to commit to net-zero emissions by 2050 and have set a target for 10% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) usage by 2030.

As a Sustainability Commercial & Insights Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving Cathay Pacific’s sustainability strategies. You will lead the development of a "Data and Insights" practice, providing robust analysis and scenario modelling to inform key decisions, support our net zero roadmap and evaluate new sustainability investment opportunities. In addition, you will support business development and growth of the Corporate SAF Programme, and develop business cases for new commercial opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
Establish and lead a "Data & Insights" practice for the Group Sustainability Team, creating robust processes, datasets and models, templates, and relationships with key business units and external data sourcesMaintain and continuously update Cathay’s carbon model and net zero roadmap, considering variables such as fleet and network planning, regulatory developments, SAF and emissions costs, and cost recovery estimationsAnalyse impact of current and future emissions and environmental regulations, including SAF mandates, CORSIA, EU ETS, and other regulatory frameworksDevelop robust cost models to make informed estimates of sustainability-related costs, such as SAF procurement and compliance with regulatory measuresPerform scenario analysis to support strategy development, including responses to new regulations, surcharges, external market developments and cost and demand forecasting for SAF (mandatory and voluntary markets) and analysis of emerging technologies and their potential impactPrepare presentations to share insights with senior leader and external stakeholdersDrive ad-hoc investigations and analyses to identify sustainability costs and opportunitiesConduct financial analyses and evaluate potential SAF- and sustainability-related investments, ensuring alignment with Cathay Pacific’s strategic and environmental objectivesSupport the Sustainability Commercial Manager in advancing and expanding the Corporate SAF Programme, including business development and managing the client sales cycleDevelop strategies and compelling business cases for new commercial opportunities in sustainability, such as partnerships and new revenue streamsRequirements
A degree in sustainability, business administration, finance, data science, or a related field5-7 years of experience in sustainability, consulting, commercial strategy, or data analytics roles, with a strong preference for experience in the aviation industryProven expertise in data and financial modelling, with experience and understanding of environmental modelling and its application in strategic decision-makingRelevant commercial experience, demonstrating the ability to support business development efforts, including managing client relationships and developing commercial strategies and business cases to grow new revenue streamsStrong familiarity with aviation economics and the financial implications of sustainability initiatives, including SAF, emissions regulations, and cost recovery mechanismsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to derive actionable insights from complex datasets and translate them into strategic recommendationsExcellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver results under tight timelinesEffective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams and stakeholders. Strong presentation skills with the ability to distil complex data into clear strategic insights and recommendationsProactive, innovative, and highly motivated individual with a passion for sustainability and delivering impactful solutionsPersonal & Application Information
