Job DescriptionThe Sustainability Manager Decarbonization & Circularity in Supply Chains (m/f/d) will be an integral part of our Tires Sustainability Purchasing Department - Tires sector, operating with global responsibility. We are looking for you as a passionate candidate about sustainability who wants to drive innovation at the intersection of commercial, technical, and sustainability domains.
This critical role encompasses the following essential duties:
Develop and systematically enhance a comprehensive Decarbonization and Circular Framework for Tires' global supply chains within Purchasing, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and industry best practices.Formulate and oversee a strategic Carbon Reduction programme by conducting in-depth portfolio analyses (encompassing spend, volume, sales, purchasing power, impact, reduction levers, feedstock, and production process evaluations) for material and supplier portfolios. Subsequently, devise and execute a robust implementation strategy in close cooperation with the Sustainability Implementation team and lead buyers.Ensure the rigorous implementation of Decarbonization and Circular Economy targets within key PM & NPM Purchasing strategies. Collaborate closely with selected purchasing clusters and categories to develop strategic initiatives.Foster the development, implementation, and operation of mission-critical IT tools, including sophisticated survey instruments and market-leading solutions such as collaborative data exchange platforms and networks ("Decarbonization platform"). Maintain close cooperation with existing IT projects (e.g., Purchasing Suite) and Digital Integration team to ensure seamless integration.Actively participate in and contribute to internal and external expert networks focused on Decarbonization and Circular Economy, representing the organisation's interests and staying up to date with developments in the field.Establish, test, and continuously refine stringent requirements for suppliers to attribute product and Purchased Goods related claims (referred to as Green Claims) such as "responsibly sourced", "green", "recycled", and "renewable" to Purchased Goods. Ensure full compliance with technical standards and external regulations.Develop, establish, and conduct rigorous control mechanisms and sample checks on green claims, maintaining the highest standards of integrity and accuracy in sustainability reporting.Provide crucial support for external reporting by developing a comprehensive Purchased Goods related data collection strategy, addressing key metrics such as scope 3 emissions, recycling content, and renewable content. QualificationsMaster's Degree in Economics, Sustainability, Natural Sciences, Engineering, or a closely related field is imperative for this critical roleA minimum of two years' experience in a Sustainability-related position is essential, demonstrating a proven track record in the fieldPossess a genuine passion for IT integration of business processes. Substantial work experience in large-scale IT projects is highly desirable and will be viewed favourablyA profound technical understanding of tyre raw material production processes is crucial. In the absence of such knowledge, candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to rapidly acquire and master these technical detailsProject management experience is a requirement for this positionUndertake international travel (up to 10-20% of the time) as an integral part of their responsibilitiesDemonstrated proficiency in working within international teams across diverse time zones and cultures is absolutely essential for this global role
