Position TypeFaculty Work Hours/Week40 Description of Work Unit The Sustainable Business Concentration combines traditional business principles and practices with a focus on environmental, social and ethical considerations – opening the doors to a wide range of impactful careers. The concentration equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to address pressing global challenges such as climate change, resource depletion, social inequality and corporate responsibility. This concentration is housed within and supported by the Department of Marketing, one of five academic departments in the College of Business. The Department of Marketing currently has twelve full-time tenure-track faculty and five special appointment faculty focused on instruction. These faculty are committed to research and teaching excellence. The Marketing Department also supports a behavioral research lab, as well as two centers of excellence – the Center for Marketing and Social Impact and the Sales Center. This position primarily involves teaching BUS225 – Transforming Business for Sustainable Impact undergraduate course sections to students both inside and outside of the College of Business. BUS 225 presents the philosophical, ethical, and theoretical frameworks that shape sustainable business leadership and operations, examines the history and approach to running an organization that has a positive impact on society and the environment, and identifies and promotes sustainable business within organizations and professional work contexts while integrating ethical reasoning and philosophy. This course is an undergraduate business core course. This position is non-tenured, with benefits. The normal teaching load for this position will be four classes per semester to be determined by the Department chair. The teaching load may be reduced by one class per year if the candidate maintains an active research program conducive to maintaining scholarly academic status. All teaching responsibilities will be used (content delivery, syllabus production, grading, creating course exercises, student communication, etc.). On occasion, teaching assignments in other marketing courses (primarily Marketing Principles) will be required. Additional classes may be assigned at the discretion of the Department Chair. Evening and on-line teaching may be required. This position will report to the Chair of the Department of Marketing. Conditions of EmploymentPre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires) Required Job Qualifications + Applicants must have minimum of 3 years professional and/or scholarly experience in business + Minimum of a master’s degree from an accredited university in business, sustainability, or a relevant field + Demonstrated competency in business sustainability + Demonstrated ability or demonstrate the potential for quality teaching of college-level marketing courses + Demonstrate potential to maintain continuing faculty qualification for AACSB accreditation.
