At JLL, we are driving sustainability through everything that we do, across all service lines and job positions. Specifically, we are growing our Sustainability practice to drive end-to-end sustainability solutions in real estate, from site selection to decommissioning.
In this role, you will work directly with a client’s sustainability team, supporting energy and sustainability goals, targets, and initiatives. As a member of the JLL Sustainable Operations team with a deep knowledge of the needs of our client’s program, you will ensure our sustainability and energy services are effectively and efficiently delivered. You will act as an accelerator enabling our client to increase engagement across stakeholders, progress towards goals, and realize success with buildings performance. You will ensure program integration and implementation across business/functions throughout the real estate lifecycle to achieve scope of work delivery and goals. This role requires strategic implementation leadership and a programmatic approach to embed sustainability thinking and practices into real estate functional aspects (e.g., fit-outs, occupancy, maintenance, experience, etc.).
While a remote-based role, this position may require periodic travel and/or in-office presence as directed by the client.
What this job involves
Develop and execute energy and sustainability management strategy Implement energy and sustainability programs to reach objectives Drive operational performance improvements through the identification and implementation of opportunities to improve energy and sustainability performance across client portfolio Identify and manage energy and sustainability projects, including ROI and ROM evaluations, to achieve objectives Collaborate with other JLL energy managers to share best practices, develop case studies and other relevant program improvement opportunities Engage with on-account leadership and JLL facility managers to provide advisory to all aspects of energy and sustainability management, initiatives, and opportunities. Collaborate with other on-account Sustainable Operations team members to deliver holistic sustainability program and united approach to energy, water, and waste reduction Demonstrate robust communication, driving innovation, integration of feedback to remove roadblocks, and leverage opportunities Leverage client tools and applicable in-house JLL tools and processes for problem-solving, and identify and secure alternative tools as needs arise Coordinate with the account Sustainable Operations Program Lead for program consistencies, efficiencies, and best practice sharing Work cross-functionally to achieve success with energy and sustainability initiatives aligned with the scope of work
Key responsibilities include:
Provide expertise in building energy efficiencies, load shifting strategies, and decarbonization Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of energy reduction and sustainability initiatives across the client real estate portfolio, including development of relevant tactical plans and activities Meet client energy reduction and sustainability objectives and relevant key performance indicators and ensure processes for monitoring and measuring performance are transparent and reported Provide strategic direction and guidance on ways to effectively and efficiently implement sustainability and energy reduction services that meet client expectations, including leveraging supply chain partners, internal collaborations, and the broader JLL Sustainability Platform Own, and improve upon, a multi-faceted energy efficiency and sustainability program Establish strong working relationships with workstreams to deliver against KPI targets Effectively network cross-functionally to collaborate with other JLL service lines on the account (technology, finance, projects, IFM, consultants, and procurement) to elevate the sustainability mission and objectives, and drive implementation where most organic within the business With cross-functional view, effectively manage changes in partnership with stakeholders, which have the potential to impact sustainability objectives Ensure success stories are tracked and communicated to ensure a high level of awareness and engagement is achieved with regard to the overall sustainability program and client’s success Demonstrate innovative thinking and proactive management in bringing new ideas and solutions to the services delivery, and ensure they are rolled out effectively Develop and enhance systems and processes for delivering best practice sustainability performance and use of utility/sustainability management systems for monitoring and/or reporting purposes Own and develop stakeholder engagement Manage delivery according to scope of work and schedule Provide SME input and own program components (e.g., content development, maintenance) related to SME area Be accountable to the Sustainable Operations Program Lead’s direction and team coordination

Requirements – Essential
University Degree (Science, engineering, math, or related fields) Strong understanding of building science and building energy reduction principles Technical understanding of common HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and building automation systems and their impact on sustainability goals Advanced understanding of energy conservation measures Strong ability to analyze corporate portfolio by benchmarking and reviewing utility data to drive sustainability measures Ability to communicate difficult concepts and negotiate with others to adopt a different point of view Ability to lead the technical support team to solve complex problems, plan and prioritize deadlines and think strategically to identify innovative solutionsRequirements – Desirable
Advanced understanding of Greenhouse Gas Emission scopes and reporting Experienced with site walkthroughs to find conservation measures (e.g., ASHRAE Level 1 and 2), commissioning or retro-commissioning, and/or energy conservation programs Strong project management skills and an ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a high pressure, deadline driven environment Experience in the preparation of tenders and work orders and the ability to select appropriate equipment and service vendors Specialized knowledge of environmental reporting, utility management and energy budgets, an environmental improvement program, and ISO 50001 compliance.
