As the Sustaining Engineer Intern, you will assist the engineering team in successfully achieving continuous improvement efforts. This internship offers a variety of opportunities that can vary from implementing and documenting design improvements, improving quality and performance of products and supporting customer requirements on product specifications.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
Projects & Continuous Improvement
Develop and update technical documentation, including product specifications, reports, and submittals, to ensure accurate and up-to-date product information Evaluate product issues and improvements to help develop engineering change requests Collaborate with cross-functional teams in addition to engineering, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and customer/sales support, to complete projects Learn products to assist in product change reviews Lead other projects as assigned or proposed by you
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience and Education
Student working towards a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and preferably focused on mechanical engineering or other related Engineering field Candidates must have completed their second year of engineering studies Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above High problem-solving skills and self-direction Company will not provide sponsorship for position. Must be eligible to work in USPreferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Familiarity with technical drawings Mechanical aptitude for machines and tools Technical hands-on experience with Microsoft Office products Experience using CAD programs and preferably Creo Parametric
Travel & Working Environment
Manufacturing Environment frequently requires use of foot and eye protection when in production areas
