SVP- Equine

Classification: Exempt, full time

Division: Property

Travel: 10%-20%

Work Environment: Hybrid/ Remote

Salary Range: $200,000-$350,000

About the role:
DUAL North America, Inc. is seeking a candidate to lead its Equine Division. The candidate will be accountable for driving the business growth and financial success of the division.

Essential Functions:

Provide strategic direction and leadership for the division, including budget forecasting and planning.Establish a culture of high integrity, transparent underwriting built on sustainable, profitable underwriting results for carrier partners, reinsurers, and employees. Assure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.Assist with development of internal systems to support the division.Lead the establishment of underwriting and product implementation strategies that are reflective of marketplace conditions, while at the same time meeting our growth and profit goals.Promulgate rates, form sets and Underwriting Guidelines for the division. Recommend updates to Underwriting Guidelines and monitor production and rate levels.Develop and maintain relationships with Operations, Loss Control, and Claims to operationalize underwriting decisions. Collaborate with Claims and Actuarial to determine underwriting policies and risk appetite as needed.Work proactively and collaboratively with the capacity team to develop business submissions and raise capacity for new initiatives.Work with Chief Property Officer to deliver projects as needed.Monitor andĀ reportĀ on operational issues, opportunities and achievements.Curate a portfolio of business in accordance with Underwriting Guidelines and developed pricing tools.Execute on annual new and renewal business goals by achieving agreed premium income and quote numbers as well as hit ratios and retentions.Foster relationships with key producers.Keep up to date on market dynamics, the competitive landscape, product differences and market intelligence. Maintain keen understanding of industry competitors in each market segment. Identify trends and emerging issues.Provide leadership and support for the design, development, and implementation of new products as well as the redesign and refinement of existing products.

Job Requirements (education, experience, skills):

A bachelor's degree preferably in business or a related field.Minimum of 5-7 years in an equine underwriting and management environment.Ability to work quickly, efficiently and methodically.A strong team player who is confident in their ability.Very strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills.Ability to build effective relationships with senior managers and other key internal and external stakeholders.Strong presentation skills, demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to think strategically.Actively listens to the views of colleagues and business leaders, but also has the strength of character to challenge where required to ensure operational excellence.Planning, organizing, and managing skills, and ability to prioritize.
