Responsibilities

The SWAT RN is a resource nurse for the facility with a focus on code stroke response. The primary responsibility is to respond to, provide care and oversight for all inpatient and outpatient code stroke patients.

Mentors others in areas such as competency, documentation, equipment use, plan of care, National Patient Safety Goals, and participation in in-service education.Provides direct patient care as appropriate to meet the needs of the patients and facility.Makes walk through rounds on all nursing units at least twice a shift to ascertain any department needs.Provides support to units as patient transport to procedure as needed.Primary response to code stroke.Responds to all hospital wide code strokes as the primary responder and direct patient care provider.Maintains all necessary competencies required to participate in this role.Maintains NIHSS certification yearly.Coordinates needed resources with charge nurses on all units and collaborates to assist by prioritizing needs.Responds to clinical emergencies.Participates as a team member on code response teams (code Blue, CRT, etc) throughout the facility.Able to lead critical/emergency situations.Responsible for managing overflow units during times of high census


Qualifications

Minimum:

3 years of ICU experienceActive unencumbered AZ RN license or compact RN licenseADN; BSN preferredAmerican Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (CT ACLS)American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Providers (CT CPRBLS)American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (CT PALS)Good communication skills and ability to organize, act and make decisions in a timely manner. Ability to work with people of all ages. Maintain Critical Care skills.
