SWAT RN/House Supervisor Nights FT

Position Summary: 

Responsible for supervising, coordinating, and participating in the delivery of nursing care for all patient care units following hospital policies and procedures, nursing process guidelines, standards of care, and standards of practice. In accordance with clinical standards and guidelines, coordinates the placement of elective and emergent admissions and transfers.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 

1.      Ensures efficient administration of nursing services and quality of care.

2.      Coordinates, with other health team members, patient placement and delivery of patient care with final decision making responsibility.

3.      Identifies and evaluates bed availability in patient care departments by super census review and continuous rounding.

4.      Communicates and coordinates with the managers, coordinators, contact nurses to insure that all shifts have standardized admission,      discharge, and transfer procedures.

5.      Initiates new concepts, approaches, and procedures in the placement of patients to facilitate their admission process.

6.      Conducts rounds on patients and families waiting for beds in ER and PACU and communicates bed placement plan.

7.      Coordinates and facilitates morning report to Patient Care Services Manager of Nursing Support or UR/Patient Placement Coordinator.

8.      Initiates continuous communication with Scheduling Office staff.                       

9.      Communicates with ER and PACU frequently to prevent a back up of admissions and to put into place process that might stop a backlog.

10.  Participates in the evaluation of the metrics and communicates the information to the appropriate people.

11.  Acts as a resource person and provides support and direction to patient care units.  Participates in delivery of patient care.

      12.  Provides input into personnel issues including hiring, disciplining, appraising, and terminating employees.

      13.  Seeks to improve quality of service by continuously developing individual competencies within scope of practice.

      14.  Serves as administrative representative in the absence of administration.

      15.  Coordinates weekend staffing for units.

      16.  Performs other related responsibilities as necessary.

 

Qualifications:

      Required:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Three years of professional nursing experience providing broad clinical exposure. Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse license.  BLS certification as Healthcare Provider or equivalent through the Military Training Network (MTN).

Preferred:
