Job Summary:
Responsibilities
We're seeking a Swim Instructor to join our team! As our new Swim Instructor you will:
Teach various levels and age groups in accordance with the sites instructional guidelines
Plan lessons, select appropriate drills, and evaluate the student’s progress
Present proper demonstrations and explain skills, analyze and correct performance, minimize fear, and use appropriate teaching devices
Maintain a safe and positive teaching environment
Attend all in-service trainings
Maintain accurate records and prepare course completion certificates
Perform all swimming strokes and skills taught in all levels
Effectively communicate each student’s progress either to the student directly, or to the student’s parents where appropriate
Project and promote a professional image
Explain and enforce facility regulations, policies, and procedures to patrons
Other tasks as assigned
The Ideal Candidate will have:
Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications or the ability to obtain the certification at the time of hire
Current Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification or the ability to obtain the certification at the time of hire
Prior experience lifeguarding or teaching swim lessons preferred but not required
Please note *Must be at least 16 years of age*
Physical Requirements:
Candidates applying for this position should be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted repeatedly throughout the workday
Frequent walking and demonstrating and assisting with exercise movements; bending, stretching, lifting, pushing, pulling and squatting are movements performed daily
Ability to be in water for long periods during the day
