Pay Rate: $24.58 – $26.21

Job Description

The Swing Driver/Warehouse Associate supports our distribution operations by providing a full range of warehousing and logistics services to ensure fulfillment to customer and business expectations. This includes both movement of materials and products within the warehouse and delivery of products to local customers.

 

Primary Tasks:

Transport specified material to and from machines within the warehouse. Load and unload material from trucks and containers. Stack and unstack reels to and from metal racks with forklift. Perform all other warehouse duties as assigned. Working safely is a condition of employment; Responsible to observe Southwire safety rules and maintain good housekeeping. Properly wear all required PPE. Maintain all work areas to 5S standards. Review and know all Job Hazard Analyses for proper job sequence and hazards associated with the jobs assigned. Perform pre-operation safety inspection and hazard analysis. Follow all company environmental rules/procedures and handle all materials in a manner designed to minimize environmental impact.

 

Driver Tasks:

Will be required to drive delivery trucks when needed, approx. 20%. Perform inspections on trucks before and after a trip, unload products from the truck to customer facilities.  Follows appropriate safety procedures to transport cargo and maintain logs of vehicle repair status and working hours according to DOT regulations.  Assists workers in loading and unloading trucks.  Manages proof of delivery paperwork from customers when delivering and picking up of product.  Mark materials with identifying information using appropriate method.  Open bales, crates, and other containers. Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed. Identify damage, loss, or surplus of goods and materials. Count items for distribution to ensure conformance to company standards.  Checks mechanical, electrical and operational aspects of the vehicle. May be assigned truck maintenance duties as needed. Complete requisition forms to order supplies for vehicle. Sweep, dust, and clean truck to ensure clean and safe work environment.  Always organize truck and work area for orderliness.

 

Required Qualifications and Desired Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Valid driver’s license required, CDL preferred. Experience driving delivery trucks preferred. Ability to read, write, and speak English; Bilingual in Spanish is a plus. Ability to stand and lift heavy loads for long periods of time. Ability to lift up to 45 lbs. Ability to work in hot and cold environments normally found in a prefabricated building without climate-control Physical activity associated with daily performance of this job include balance, climbing, fingering, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, standing, stooping, walking and sitting. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports, fill out forms/docs, correspondence and update paperwork accordingly.  Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Knowledge of roads, trucks, routes, trucking rules, DOT requirements and CDL.  Ability to work well under pressure.
