Switchboard Operator-PBX-PRN

The Switchboard Operator is responsible for the facility telephone switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls, and performs miscellaneous hospital communications and clerical duties. Answers questions of callers and takes message according to hospital protocols. Pages authorized personnel over the intercom system. Announces close of visiting hours and other notifications. Provides information to hospital personnel concerning specific scheduling matters and other information available to the Communication Clerk. Follows hospital procedures in regards to paging over the intercom system, referring calls to nursing stations, to specified offices in the hospital and when alerting hospital personnel to emergency conditions or drills which develop within the hospital. Maintains the alphabetical listing of patient’s name daily. Answer all calls for Dr’s Answering Service. Pages physicians for calls to be obtained.
**Education:**
Must be able to read and write the equivalent of eighth grade English.
**Experience:**
One (1) year of high volume switchboard operation experience is strongly preferred. Demonstrated verbal communication skills are required. Strong guest services and customer relations characteristics are required.
