Amgen’s Synthetic Manufacturing and Clinical Supply Organization is seeking a highly motivated Engineer to join our diverse team of engineers, scientists, and technicians in Thousand Oaks, CA. The applicant will be responsible for manufacturing support activities in our Synthetic Drug Substance Scale-Up Facility and Drug Product Formulation Development Lab facility. The candidate will work in a highly collaborative team environment and be responsible for both non-GMP and GMP manufacturing activities to support of our early phase clinical pipeline of synthetic drug substance and drug products. **Job Responsibilities:** + Hands-on cleaning, sanitization, and setup of equipment parts + Support manufacturing process readiness activities + Review facility and equipment documentation (equipment/room logbooks) + Maintenance of Raw Materials & Consumables Inventory + Supporting day to day operational needs of the facility + Dispensing and handling of high hazardous raw materials + Operating machinery and tools while complying to all safety protocols and operational standards + Support batch records for use in GLP/GMP campaigns and planning manufacturing timelines + Identify, recommend, and implement improvements related to routine functions + Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team with process development chemists, engineers, analysts, and facility staff The candidate will collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams with Process Development scientists, engineers, EH&S, Quality, F&E, maintenance, and other supporting functions. **What we expect of you** We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. The dynamic professional we seek is an individual with these qualifications. **Basic Qualifications:** + High school diploma / GED and 8 years of Engineering experience OR + Associate’s degree and 6 years of Engineering experience OR + Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of Engineering experience OR + Master’s degree **Preferred Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree in life Sciences, Chemistry, or Engineering related fields + Extensive knowledge of safe chemical handling techniques, including weighing, dispensing, and packaging of chemical, drug substance intermediates, and APIs + Experience with laboratory automation including temperature control and data logging platforms such as Delta V & Pl vision + Ability to adhere to current Good Manufacturing Practices cGMPs and follow Standard Operating Procedures SOPs. + Understanding of unit operations for the manufacture of synthetic drug substance (i.e. weighing and dispensing, reactor charging, reactor and filter operations and other common unit operations) and for drug product (i.e. granulation, roller compaction, drying, milling, blending, compression, encapsulation and film coating) + Strong technical skills for troubleshooting & process improvement + Proficiency in using PPE, including PAPR and breathing air suits. + Ability to work with Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint + Excellent verbal and written communication skills + Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive leadership mindset **What you can expect of us** As we work to develop treatments that take care of others, we also work to care for your professional and personal growth and well-being. The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
