Job Summary
Directly support the Controller, Assistant Controllers, AFR Managers and Finance Administration in carrying out accounting processes in a complex multi company corporate structure. Successfully coordinate audit(s) and prepare return forms. Identify and coordinate/lead financial projects throughout the system detailing financial results. Attend meetings and serve on committees involving both day to day operations and strategic initiatives. Coordinate professional accounting staff in performing accounting functions, preparation of reports, tax returns and statistics in regard to financial results. Review and guide work of professional staff. Lead department in achieving successful outcomes.
Responsibilities
· Interpret financial statements for Vandalia Health, Inc and its consolidated entities and competitors.
· Coordinate and lead annual consolidated and various financial audits to ensure accuracy and compliance to accounting and financial reporting policies and procedures. Bring resolution to outstanding issues.
· Coordinate, prepare, review and oversee preparation of annual 990 tax returns across multiple companies and other returns as needed.
· Identify and coordinate process improvements internally (withing accounting and financial reporting) and externally (crossing departments/companies). Collect, organize and prepare various forms of data for comparative informational purpose. Define problems and coordinate resolutions plan/solutions. Coordinate and lead implementations as applicable. Prepare and make presentations as needed to communicate above information. Evaluate and monitor outcomes.
· Lead junior staff in execution and accomplishment of work product including day to day initiatives as well as special projects and complex issues.
· Maintain awareness of minor and major events and transactions which may have accounting implications or impact on any of the system financial statements including but not limited to changing trends and practices and law within applicable industry.
· Ensure accuracy of external reports which may have an effect on the financial reporting of the system or entity.
· Assist in preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
· Maintain Census reporting and business registrations and licenses.
· Perform complex special assignments and specialized projects.
· Participate in work groups, committees, etc. as a financial representative and expert.
· Exercise tact in all oral and written communication with whom professional contact is made to include support and communication with administrators, directors, managers, and diverse customer populations. Facilitate intra and inter departmental communication, rapport and conflict resolution to increase effective outcomes.
· Work in collaboration with accounting and financial reporting department management and finance administration to continuously improve accounting operations, processes and internal controls. .

Education
• Bachelor's Degree (Required) Experience:8+ years progressive general ledger accounting, financial statement preparation, financial reporting and project management preferably in a healthcare setting. Form 990 experience a plus. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP), taxation practices and strong understanding of internal control practices. Internal system accountants would need to have achieved a minimum of System Accountant Specialist status. Substitution: Bachelor Degree in Accounting plus Masters in Accounting or related field OR CPA with 6 year direct accounting and financial reporting experience (preferably in healthcare) maybe substitute for Bachelor’s degree and 8 years’ experience
