Description We are currently seeking a skilled Systems Administrator to support and maintain the daily operations of business-critical applications and server infrastructure within a fast-paced, high-availability manufacturing environment, in the Houston area. This role is integral to plant operations, with primary responsibilities including Windows server administration, light Linux system management, troubleshooting operational issues, and ensuring proactive system monitoring and maintenance. Key Responsibilities: System Administration & Maintenance: + Oversee the management and upkeep of Windows servers and assist with light Linux system administration. + Perform installations, configurations, updates, troubleshooting, and patching for software and systems. + Monitor system health and performance metrics. Technical Support & Troubleshooting: + Provide Tier II technical support for IT and operational concerns. + Conduct basic network issue resolution, including IP configurations, VLANs, and DHCP troubleshooting. + Offer support to remote users and serve as the VPC Remote Site Coordinator. Collaboration & Alignment: + Work closely with internal infrastructure teams (e.g., network and storage) and external vendors to address issues and implement system changes. + Schedule upgrades and changes to align with plant operations and minimize disruptions. Documentation & Best Practices: + Maintain comprehensive and detailed documentation on systems, configurations, and processes. Customer Service & Communication: + Build and sustain strong working relationships with team members and stakeholders. + Understand operational workflows and system usage to address business needs effectively. After-Hours Support & Projects: + Participate in on-call rotations to provide after-hours technical support for systems and applications. + Support minor IT projects and initiatives aimed at improving processes and systems. Applicants should possess: + Expertise with Microsoft Windows Servers: Skilled in configuration, patching, and troubleshooting Windows environments. + Networking Knowledge: Understanding of IP addressing, VLANs, DHCP, and DNS. + Basic Linux Skills: Ability to perform simple tasks such as navigating directories, managing permissions, and checking services. + System Monitoring Tools: Proficiency with tools like SolarWinds to track and ensure performance reliability.
