Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a highly experienced System Administrator (SME) to support mission-critical systems for a federal law enforcement customer. This remote role, based out of Clarksburg, WV, offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of federal IT operations, ensuring the security, performance, and reliability of complex enterprise environments.
As a System Administrator SME, you will serve as a technical authority responsible for the design, deployment, and maintenance of both on-premises and cloud-based systems. Your role will encompass diagnosing advanced system issues, optimizing performance, forecasting future infrastructure needs, and guiding a range of system-level security initiatives. You’ll collaborate with agile teams and customer stakeholders to implement modern solutions that align with strategic goals and compliance requirements. To be considered for this position, candidates must have an active Top Secret clearance.
ResponsibilitiesThe System Administrator (SME) shall be responsible for the following:
Diagnosing and resolving complex system issues that may require in-depth analysis and creative solutions.Contributing to the design and implementation of new system architectures, including server configurations, network topology, and data storage solutions.Monitoring system performance metrics and identifying bottlenecks to optimize system efficiency and uptime.Implementing robust security measures, managing user access controls, and staying updated on emerging cyber threatsForecasting future system needs and planning for hardware upgrades or infrastructure scaling to accommodate growth.Providing technical guidance and training to other system administrators on best practices and new technologies. QualificationsThe Systems Administrator (SME) shall possess the following qualifications:
Active Top Secret clearance.Minimum of five years of experience with enterprise network administration tools.Possess extensive understanding of specific operating systems, hardware, network protocols, security measures, and cloud technologies relevant to their organization.Expert knowledge of Linux operating systems, including system configuration, shell scripting, and package managementAdvanced expertise in managing Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and related technologies.Deep understanding of AWS and Azure cloud platforms, including cloud security and resource managementExpertise in network infrastructure, routing protocols, firewalls, and network securityExperience working in an Agile organization using Scrum, XP, Kanban, and SAFe.
