System Development Engineer, FBA Capacity Management and Planning
Sellers are a critical part of Amazon’s ecosystem to deliver on our vision of offering the Earth’s largest selection and lowest prices. These Sellers offer hundreds of millions of unique products providing a broad and diverse inventory of products from Books, Electronics and Apparel to Consumables and beyond. Fulfillment By Amazon enables Sellers to provide fast and efficient delivery to their customers using Amazon fulfillment services which stores, packs, ships and provides customer service for seller products. Sellers now make up the majority of the business on Amazon.com. The FBA team is responsible for the science, business, and operations of the core systems, algorithms, and seller-facing tools and workflows of the FBA service. These enable FBA sellers to enroll selection, plan and inbound product, and manage and action inventory in Amazon fulfillment network - managing through the full inventory lifecycle. FBA Capacity Management and Planning organization builds and manages tools worldwide for FBA capacity allocation, market-driven additional limit system, capacity management in emerging countries, inventory planning and forecasting, and the north-star seller-facing metric, the Inventory Performance Index.

FBA Capacity Management and Planning is looking for a highly motivated System Development Engineer to help build Amazon's business critical capacity and planning systems and build system solutions to operate at scale. You will work on critical business functions for our customers around the world while meeting aggressive system availability goals and ensuring system performance with growing business needs. You will discover innovative ways to automate and scale our infrastructure as we expand globally. You will work together with multiple teams and departments, with plenty of opportunities to learn and grow.

What you’ll be working on:
* Simplifying and reinventing systems, processes, and tools to make things better for our customers
* Managing and growing innovative, production-quality tools to solve real operational problems
* Investigating technical issues scientifically and thoroughly, and assist in fixing them so they don't come back
* Providing technical solutions to real business problems in a global organization
* Software deployment support in staging and production environments
* Develop tools to aid operations and maintenance
* System and Support status reporting
* Participate in designs, code and procedures reviews.
* Identify opportunities arising from technical discussions and do the technical trade-offs.
* Troubleshoot, research root causes thoroughly resolve defects.
* Drive Company Wide Campaigns with Support and Engineering teams and drive it to closure.
* Drive large scale projects such as migration to native , Pipeline Automation and drive it to closure

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructure
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
- Experience with Linux/Unix
- Relevant experience in software development, systems engineering, SRE or DevOps roles
- Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control
management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Practical understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP)
- Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (host networking, storage, *nix operating systems).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
