Position Summary / Career Interest:The System Director of Category Management builds and executes on the category management strategic plan to maximize value from company spend. Emphasis is placed on decreasing costs, mitigating financial risk, and improving supplier relationships. This individual oversees the evaluation and negotiation of contracts and agreements for the acquisition of equipment, services and supplies for The University of Kansas Health System.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

Strategy and Operational Alignment (% of Time annually= 30%)Defines and executes on the Supply Chain Category Management strategy to ensure efficiency in supply chain operationsResponsible for transforming TUKHS Supply Chain into an Integrated Delivery Network (IDN)Ensures contracting strategies are aligned with the strategic direction of TUKHSOversight of Supply Chain GPO and Aggregation group relationshipsResponsible for sitting in Aggregation group committee positionCreates and presents business plans, statistics, and presentations for Executive Leadership as neededConsults with and provides counsel to all corporate entities to ensure alignment of various business units as it relates to supply chainDefines and holds Category Management team accountable to Key Performance IndicatorsSupport Contract Management team in business reviews with strategic supplier partnersAccountable to Supply Chain’s contribution to Contract ControlsSupports DEI Supply Chain program through the partnerships with TUKHS suppliersCategory Management support for our Strategic Healthcare Solution affiliation groupFinancial Stewardship Responsibilities (% of Time annually= 15%)Monitors the departments’ success by evaluating key financial, budgetary, and other metrics related to Category Management’s effectivenessDetermines, monitors and reports on TUKHS Category Management team’s contribution to decreasing spend, mitigating financial risk, and improving our supplier relationshipsLeadership and Mentorship (% of Time annually= 30%)Responsible for building out succession plan for the Category Management department in collaboration with Sr. DirectorResponsible for support, leadership and guidance to TUKHS Category Management teamResponsible for hiring, disciplinary actions and performance evaluations for staffCategory Management Contracting (% of Time annually= 25%)Evaluates, negotiates and assists TUKHS Category Management team with agreements for the acquisition of equipment, services and suppliesActs as a facilitator at meetings or committees engaged in activities relating to contracting activitiesMeets or exceeds standards of compliance for all accreditation and regulatory bodies, commissions, etc. in relation to category managementMust be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.These statements are intended to describe the essential functions of the job and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities. Required Education and Experience

Bachelors Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration or a related field of study from an accredited college or university.8 or more years of experience in supply chain.5 or more years of integrated experience in supply chain projects and programs.5 or more years of experience in a leadership role with professional level employees.


Preferred Education and Experience

Master's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or a related field of study from an accredited college or university.10 or more years of experience in healthcare supply chain.6 or more years of integrated experience in healthcare or a related field supply chain projects and programs.


Required Language Skills

Fluent English -
