Summary
Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital is seeking a strategic and dynamic System Director of Revenue Cycle to lead our patient access and revenue cycle management functions. The System Director of Revenue Cycle will be instrumental in optimizing patient access processes and ensuring efficient and effective revenue cycle operations to support our mission for our growing system. Responsible for management of the revenue cycle for the Hospital, and Physician Practice services lines. Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to healthcare access, coding and billing practices. Directs and oversees development of teams, tools, methods, and analytics to drive revenue, profitability, and a modern and optimized patient experience.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic initiatives to optimize patient access processes and revenue cycle operations. Collaborate with senior leadership to align goals with organizational objectives across system sites. Plays a lead role in managing the relationships with third-party payors to negotiate contracts, reimbursement rates, value-based strategies and denial reviews.
Patient Access Management: Oversee patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and authorization processes. Implement best practices to enhance patient satisfaction and streamline access to care across the system.
Revenue Cycle Oversight: Lead revenue cycle functions including billing, coding, collections, and revenue integrity. Ensure timely and accurate billing, maximize reimbursement, and minimize denials. Manages charity care policies, financial assistance team and compliance to charity requirements.
Team Development: Provide leadership and mentorship to the patient access and revenue cycle teams. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Develop a patient/people centered culture focused on service and experience.
Financial Analysis and Reporting: Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to patient access and revenue cycle operations across the system. Analyze financial data, identify trends, and implement strategies to optimize revenue capture.
Compliance and Regulatory Management: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, payer guidelines, and healthcare industry standards. Stay current with regulatory changes and implement necessary updates to policies and procedures. Serves a member of the Hospital’s Compliance Committee.
Technology Integration: Evaluate and implement technology solutions to enhance and automate patient access and revenue cycle efficiency. Collaborate with IT and operational teams to ensure seamless integration of systems and processes.
Essential Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience in within a hospital or healthcare setting or comparable experience in an equally complex industry in a customer facing leadership position(s).
- Strong knowledge of healthcare billing, coding, reimbursement methodologies, and regulatory compliance or willingness to learn.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, lean process management/improvement, and operational efficiency.
- Excellent leadership and team-building skills with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
- Proficiency in financial analysis, budget management, and KPI monitoring.
- Experience with complex information systems (EHR, scheduling systems, etc.)
