OVERALL PURPOSE OF ROLE:
To take care of submarine cable systems design and engineering at both tender and contract stage. This includes the definition of technical solutions, in compliance with Customers requirements and with environmental constraints and their optimization balancing competitiveness and technical risks.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Definition of technically acceptable and commercially competitive cable, cable system designs and in line with Customer enquiry requirements.Carry out calculations and studies in the Thermal, Electromagnetic and Mechanical fieldsPreparation of technical documentation for Customer and specifications for internal or sub-contractor’s use.Participation to meetings with Customers’ representatives at all stages of the enquiry and contract to ensure compliance with Customers’ requirements, and Customer’s satisfactionProduction of detailed costing of all materials and services and production of the technical content to be submitted to Customers.Support to Contracts Engineering Execution Manager in the preparation of formal documentation and design information for the manufacture of cable, accessories, and for cable installation activities.Occasionally, work on details of specific aspects which are typically not completely defined at offer stage e.g. design of special parts, definition/coordination of qualification testing, design of prototypes, etc. This part includes the optimization of cable and system design, to reduce project costs.Participation to technical presentations to Customers, to technical conferences, seminars and workshops.Development of new calculation procedures and computer methods for determining product and system technical proposals and ensure that all calculation and working procedures comply with the necessary technical and quality standards and procedures.QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications:
Master degree in Engineering (Electrical and Energy are preferred)Minimum Experience:
1- 2 years’ experience in engineering fieldGood attitude to calculation and computer solutionExperience with Electromagnetic, Thermal or Mechanical design calculation methods and computer solutions (e.g. FEM, CFD, circuit analysis,…) is considered a plusExperience in dealing with relevant national and international standardsAbility to combine technical knowledge with communications and liaisons skills, both internally and with Customers representatives (both technical and commercial)Availability to business travelsWHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?
