Position Title: System Engineer
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 Hours/ Week
Summary of Duties: Bring thought Leadership in day-to-day engagement with the Utility segment to share the value propositions associated with the Siemens Energy Automation (EA) Products and System. Drive approvals of the SIPROTEC and SICAM portfolio and associated applications in the engineering and approval standards of Key Utilities/Consultants to assigned region. Promote standard Conventional Protection and Substation Automation Products Direct from Utilities or Channels, but leveraging futuristic technologies like Digital Substation technologies, Electromagnetic Pulse Mitigation and Cloud based IoT Solutions. Application expertise with solutions related to Siemens EA products, including Substation Automation, load shedding, interfacing with generation controls, communications protocols, network topologies, IEC 61850. Foster collaboration with the Utilities Sales Teams (Siemens Energy) and the Energy Automation Product and System Business Developers in the assigned region. Enable Sales to build opportunity pipeline for products and systems by enhancing the specification activity with Utilities to get the product in the standards. Support Sales with expert level engagement in Utilities to qualify leads into RFQs and order income. Train and enhancement to engineering and protection managers in the Utilities and their associated Channels (Panel Builders, EPCs. Engineering consultants). Act as the first point of contact for the Utilities and Sales in the assigned region for all application related questions – prompt responsiveness to ensure high NPS for assigned region. Represent Siemens in Various conferences and forums to create brand affinity (via White Papers, Journals or addressing forums.) Provide day-to-day support to Siemens Reps in the assigned region for expert engagement with Munis/ Coops and IoUs. 50% Nationwide Travel.
Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign Electrical Engineering or a related field and four (4) years of experience in the job offered or in an acceptable alternate occupation. The position requires experience with the following: Core Protection and Automation experience in Commissioning, Application Engineering, R&D, PLM with a strong endeavor to influence customers with technology; Ability to read electrical schematics to identify the best solution considering Siemens products; Knowledge and understanding of standards such as UL, IEEE, NEMA, IEC, NEC, and ANSI; Deep knowledge of the standard IEC 61850 considering Sample Measurement Values, GOOSE, and MMS; and Deep knowledge of network design and redundancy protocols such as RSTP, PRP, and HSR
