Roche Sequencing Solutions & Roche Molecular Lab (Santa Clara) are developing nanopore-based sequencing dedicated to making clinical genetic testing easy and affordable. We are developing a revolutionary single-molecule DNA sequencer that can improve the lives of people in a wide variety of ways including timely screening for diseases and diagnosis of various cancers.
The OpportunityRoche is looking for a motivated and team-oriented individual to join our team as a Systems Engineer. Drawing on experience in systems, biochemistry, electrochemistry, electromechanical and/or materials science, you will be part of the troubleshooting team and will be responsible for supporting the next generation sequencing system and the sample prep platform.
Become an expert on the operation and functionality of the Roche Sequencing Platform and Sample Prep platform to ensure minimal system down timeWork with the engineering teams on resolving discovered issues and propose solutions to common failure modesSupport the lab teams with system troubleshooting both at the hardware/software level and the assay levelExecute experiments and testing protocols to ensure platform functionalityClearly and timely communicate and collaborate across system, device, instrument, and reagent teams in root cause investigation findings and solution implementationsHelp design, troubleshoot, and perform instrument development in a fast-paced environmentGood understanding of statistical methodsExcellent oral and written communication skills Who You AreSystems Engineer I

You can hold a Master's Degree and that can be equivalent Behaviors, competencies, and qualities of the ideal applicantKnowledge of microfluidics, liquid handlers, diagnostic systems, NGS systems is a plusFailure analysis and/or defect management previous knowledge is a plus.Understanding of sequencing methodologiesAbility to do statistical analysis of data with programs such as JMP, R, etc. Familiarity with computer programming in languages such as Python is a plus. Meticulous attention to detail and excellent written and electronic record-keeping skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. The expected salary range for this position based in California is 68,700.00 - 127,500.00 USD Annually. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
