Responsibilities The System Engineer is responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining servers and related virtualization environments while ensuring that these systems remain secure and highly available to service the computing needs of the enterprise. This position recognizes potential issues within the systems and recommends and implements solutions for improvement. This position holder stays abreast of emerging technologies and security practices and is viewed as a thought leader in technical architecture who influences technology and solution road maps. The position is required to be on call 24/7 and reports to the Senior Director of System EngineeringEssential Responsibilities/Job Duties
Monitor for and resolve problems, including identifying potential problems before they become critical while identifying, evaluating, and analyzing resolution optionsDocument configurations, instructional procedures, change management records, performance and growth analysis reportsDirects and leads activities related to server and/or end user compute virtualization projectsConfigure and maintain enterprise Data Center and server infrastructure including:VMware Virtualization AdministrationCitrix XenApp/XenDesktop and/or similar Application Virtualization TechnologiesSupport and Maintenance of Hyper-Converged infrastructureSecurity Updates/Patching/Imaging Design, configure and maintain disaster recovery site infrastructure and failover plansMicrosoft Sharepoint/Teams administrationProvides guidance on technical aspects of infrastructure systems development and integration to ensure strategies, road maps, policies, standards, and practices are properly appliedPerform project, capacity, and budget planning, including identifying projects, developing project tasks and timelines, estimating future capacity requirements, obtaining budgetary quotes, and determining interoperability requirements for hardware and softwareMaintains a relationship with hardware and software vendors, including support calls and maintenance updatesPerforms routine system hardware and software auditsEvaluates and provides recommendations for new hardware and software technologyDevelops scripts and implements processes to automate routine tasks to proactively maintain a healthy server environment Qualifications
Education, Experience and Certification
Bachelors degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience requiredTen plus years of Information Technology experienceSeven plus years of experience with Data Center infrastructure and virtualization technologiesKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent leadership and communication skillsExpert working knowledge of virtualization technologiesAdministration experience with Microsoft OS, Citrix, VMWare, Unix, and Linux technologiesAdministration experience with Microsoft technologies such as Sharepoint, Active Directory, and ExchangeGood documentation skills in a large scale environmentProven customer relationship skillsPersonal Attributes
