Description System Engineering & Support – Co-op The System Engineering co-op student will work alongside, and in support of the Systems Engineering team. The system engineering team is a diverse, collaborative group working on the support and/or development of medical devices; devices used to automate invitro diagnostics typically found in a microbiology laboratory. The System Engineering co-op student will work alongside, and in support of the Systems Engineering team. The system engineering team is a diverse, collaborative group working on the support and/or development of medical devices; devices used to automate invitro diagnostics typically found in a microbiology laboratory. The engineering co-op student will be supervised by and mentored by the Director, Manager, and Senior engineers within the System Engineering team and the role will include a significant amount of interaction and collaboration with other system development team members. Basic Knowledge: The co-op student will obtain basic knowledge related to medical instrumentation research, design, development, and testing. Candidates will be expected to have general engineering knowledge including the use of standard engineering tools and test equipment and have general computer application competencies (word processing, spreadsheet, internet data search, software programming, etc.). Project Activities: This position will include creation and execution of verification tests, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and evaluating instrument and system issues and design alternatives. Design and Development Process: The co-op student will be given the opportunity to acquire knowledge and understanding of the bioMerieux Design Control process that addresses US and international regulatory requirements, as well as internal Quality Assurance. Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, Systems, and Biomedical Engineering undergraduates with a GPA of 3.0 or higher will be considered.
