What role you will play in our team

 

Are you tech savvy and motivated to gain valuable experience? If you are passionate about safety, building positive relationships, and working within a strong team environment, then we have the role for you! 

We currently have an opportunity for a Process Control Systems engineering intern at our Strathcona refinery asset. Working under the guidance of staff Systems Engineers, you will gain an understanding of industrial control systems network in a petrochemical refining environment, and get an opportunity to develop your skills and put them to use through maintaining and optimizing our control systems infrastructure.
 

What you will do

 

Support control system life cycle management plans and upgrade projects Support control system network infrastructure (hardware and software) that enable network connectivity and communication between users, devices and applications. Apply design fundamentals in developing, selection and application of data management solutions Support Systems Engineers with existing and new software/database requirements Analyze data to identify process control issues and develop strategies to mitigate them Collaborate with a diverse team of technical, operations and maintenance personnel About you

 

Skills and Qualifications

 

Studying to achieve a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer/Software Engineering (or related discipline) University Engineering or Computer Science student available for a work term beginning in May 2025 Currently enrolled in a University Engineering or Computer Science program, and returning to full-time studies after the work term Your most recent unofficial transcript(s) must be submitted with your application Demonstrated leadership and strong academic skills

 

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

 

Commitment to safety on and off the job Highly motivated, enthusiastic, results-oriented individuals who are energized by working with people and by achieving superior results Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team-based environment Knowledge on network topology will be an asset Previous industry experience is considered beneficial, but not essential

 

Start date: May 2025

 

Work term: 8 to 12 months

 

Location: Edmonton, AB
