System Manager, Lab Quality and Point of Care Testing- Lab Administration
POSITION SUMMARY The Manager, Laboratory Quality and Point of Care Testing (PoCT) provides quality/accreditation oversight & leadership of the laboratory & pathology service line across Health First, Inc. This position is accountable to the functions, processes, and operations of the assigned department. Supports Health First’s System Director, Laboratory on execution of Health First’s Mission and Vision. PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES 1. Manages daily quality operations of the laboratory, pathology, specifically PoCT department, consistent with the mission & vision of Health First Inc. This includes hospitals, HFMG, HFCI, and retail sites. 2. In collaboration with Health First Leadership team, oversees quality assurance (QA) program of the laboratory medicine and pathology department. 3. In partnership with laboratory medical & administrative director, accountable to all accreditation agency requirements ensuring the laboratory’s successful compliance with regulatory standards (CAP, TJC, FL State, COLA, AABB, OSHA, etc.) 4. Manages point of care testing operations to include training, QC, review, test implementation, validation, policy management, procedure management, and constant quality improvement of existing operations. 5. Maintains a safe work environment for laboratory staff and PoCT users. Oversees personnel management of PoCT across the health system, to include hospitals, medical group, physician offices, and clinics. 6. Develops collaborative relationships with inter-professional departments and ongoing partnership with other managers, supervisors, and other members of Health First leadership team to ensure organization’s goals are achieved. 7. Demonstrates strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to interact productively and effectively with associates, leaders, clinicians, staff, and customers. 8. Shows commitment to culture “Continuous Quality Improvement” through incorporation of evidenced based laboratory medicine, benchmarking, and implementation of recommended guidelines. 9. Fiscally manages assigned laboratory department within the allotted resources. 10. Serves and performs all functions of a CLIA general supervisor for the laboratory in all sections of responsibility. 11. Engages laboratory associates with constant and proactive communication of departmental goals, wins, ongoing projects, and changes within the Health First Laboratory via staff meetings, huddles, emails, rounding and other forms of communication. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical/Clinical Lab Science, or any related field, as outlined by CLIA. • Work Experience: o Five (5) years clinical laboratory experience. o Two (2) years of lab supervisory experience. • Licensure: Medical Technologist by the State of Florida and in accordance with CLIA. • Certification: None • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: o Strong time management skills. o Proficient in human relations and interpersonal communication. o Effective organizational communication skills. o Skilled in troubleshooting and problem-solving. o Competent in computer skills and technology use. o Knowledgeable in quality assurance and quality control procedures. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Education: Masters’s Degree (MS, MBA, MHA, MPH, or equivalent). • Licensure: Medical Technologist or Medical Scientist by ASCP. • Certification: MLS(ASCP) also formerly known as MT(ASCP), and/or MT(AAB), MT/MLS(AMT), Specialist Certification by ASCP (SBB, SC, SH, etc.). PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, and stooping. • Long periods of computer time or at workstation. • Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance. • May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise. • Communicating with others to exchange information. • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks. • Workspace may vary from open to confined, onsite, or remote. • May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
