System Manager-No Surprises Act
Summary Manages the daily operations of the No Surprises Act (NSA) Team. The System Manager will be a BMHCC subject matter expert for NSA and responsible for all processing pertaining to the NSA. Provides innovative leadership to maximize the department's contribution to overall health system performance through effective planning as well as human and financial resource management which result in quality outcomes in line with financial goals of the institution. Responsible for assuring compliance with local, state and federal regulations as well as accrediting organizations as it pertains to NSA activities. Incumbent is accountable for departmental management 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Incumbents are subject to hours beyond the normal workday Responsibilities • Manage the hiring, training, mentoring, and development of all direct employees. • Manage the new hire onboarding and 90-day evaluation process to ensure new hires are progressing at an effective pace and implement corrective action plans as needed. • Evaluate the new hire selection process regularly to determine if any changes need to be made in the screening or selection process. • Conduct employee performance evaluations and implement corrective action plans as needed. • Work with the Director in developing and maintaining departmental and employee performance expectations. • Coach and mentor utilizing various techniques to maintain a high performing team. • Responsible for the timely and accurate submission of all required NSA notifications. + Serve as a point of contact for the IDR Entities and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) related to the NSA cases. + Responsible for preparing NSA reports for BMHCC Revenue Cycle Leadership. • Demonstrates the ability to evaluate and maintain the proper level of data integrity within the NSA Tracker and/or Epic. • Develop and update departmental policies and procedures. • Participate in the functional design and development of role specific training that is relevant and necessary for the continuous development of the technical competencies of the team. • Utilize Performance Management techniques to reinforce the right behaviors through the use of Positive Reinforcement. • Communicate the departmental vision, policies, and goals. • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to instill trust in the No Surprises Act Team. • Serve as a change agent and reinforce Lean thinking. • Use sound judgment in managing assigned duties to ensure departmental budget is being utilized wisely. • Project and maintain a high level of ethics and personal integrity. • Perform other duties as assigned. • Requirements, Preferences and Experience Experience Description Minimum Required Preferred/Desired Five (5) years of prior revenue cycle experience in a hospital or physician revenue cycle office 1-2 years of leadership experience in a hospital or physician revenue cycle office Education Description Minimum Required Preferred/Desired Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of experience and education Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field Training Description Minimum Required Preferred/Desired Special Skills Description Minimum Required Preferred/Desired Problem solving, communication skills, creative thinking, resource management, analytical thinking, delegation and follow up skills, interpersonal skills, listening skills, organizational and presentation skills, problem solving skills, motivational skills, interviewing skills, and the ability to set measurable goals and monitor outcomes. Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Superb verbal, written, and customer service skills. Knowledge of the No Surprises Act requirements and workflows.
