System Test Planning Engineer – Enterprise Solutions Validation

The PHS Quality organization has an exciting and important opportunity available for a Specialist-level engineer to make a difference with HP’s large Enterprise customers.

This role is responsible for technical strategy and delivery for systems validation test programs.  The STPE will evaluate requirements, specify test plans, and provide risk analysis.  This will include, but is not limited to, transforming functional and non-functional requirements into optimal and actionable test plans and coverage.  While test plan is being executed, the STPE will provide engineering leadership to test teams, analyze defect candidate issues, and provide reports on progress and potential risk factors to stakeholders.  Must be able to provide subject matter expertise and participate in continuous improvement processes applying past learnings to future test programs successfully.  This position will be required to collaborate with numerous stakeholders and will play a role in promoting a diverse culture of quality within HP.

Role Description:

Develop and implement overall testing strategy and plan that aligns with business priorities and the qualification strategy, with respect to upstream/downstream quality stages within the Software Development Lifecycle, applying Agile/Scrum development approaches.Create and execute manual and automated test cases to identify and mitigate risks, and to detect critical issues before they cause further problems.Lead project work for test team to ensure timely and reliable execution of tests and results delivery.Analyze customer-facing issues and bugs to identify and develop the proper test coverage.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development and tech marketing, to identify and address blocking issues in a timely manner.Continuously improve the overall testing framework, processes, and methodologies to increase efficiency and effectiveness.Report and triage bugs and issues and communicate test outcomes to internal partners including senior management.Have a deep understanding of the entire product ecosystem, including HP-developed and third-party assets.

Extended Area:

Maintain and enhance the overall test pipeline and scripts for future-ready solutions, such as future FW platforms and enterprise services.Maximize the value of automation testing by focusing on the best areas to automate.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent.Typically, 4-10 years of experience in software testing, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. Experience leading an outsourced testing team is preferred.Preferred experience in customer technical support.Preferred experience with printing, firmware, apps & cloud-based solutions.Experience in designing and executing manual and automated test cases for software products.Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.Strong understanding of software testing principles, practices, and tools.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a worldwide team environment.Experienced in cross-functional leadership.

The base pay range for this role is $82,800 to $125,000 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to US candidates only).  Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
