NetImpact Strategies is seeking a Systems Administrator to join our team, in support of a federal client onsite in Bethesda, MD.
Systems Administrator is detail-oriented and proactive, with experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining servers, operating systems, and networked systems. He should be adept at troubleshooting, monitoring system performance, and managing backups to ensure optimal functionality and security. Proficient in system automation, patch management, and security best practices, he should ensure that all infrastructure remains secure and efficient. Skilled in user account management and providing technical support to internal teams, he should be known for his problem-solving abilities, excellent documentation skills, and a collaborative approach to IT operations.
Responsibilities:
System Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix) and software applications, ensuring proper setup and functionality. User Account Management: Create, manage, and troubleshoot user accounts, permissions, and access controls to ensure appropriate system security and usability. System Monitoring and Maintenance: Regularly monitor system performance, availability, and reliability, responding to issues and performing routine maintenance to keep systems running efficiently. Backup and Recovery: Perform regular backups of critical data and systems, ensuring that recovery processes are tested and reliable for business continuity. Security Management: Implement and manage security measures, such as firewalls, antivirus software, and encryption, to protect systems from unauthorized access and vulnerabilities. Patch Management: Apply operating system, application, and security patches in a timely manner to ensure systems are up-to-date and protected from potential threats. Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues promptly, minimizing system downtime and ensuring user productivity. Automation of Administrative Tasks: Use scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) to automate routine administrative tasks such as system updates, backups, and monitoring. Documentation: Maintain clear documentation on system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps to ensure proper knowledge transfer and compliance with internal standards. Collaboration with IT Teams: Work closely with network engineers, security teams, and other IT staff to integrate systems and ensure the smooth operation of infrastructure. QualificationsRequired
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). 3-5 years of experience as a Systems Administrator or in a similar IT support role, with experience managing and supporting diverse IT systems and infrastructures. Expertise in system administration, including server operating systems management and troubleshooting.Preferred Certification:
Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate for Windows-based systems and cloud infrastructure. CompTIA Network+ or CompTIA Security+ for networking and security fundamentals.#LI-Onsite
