Systems Administrator

Job Description

A nonprofit organization located in University City in Philadelphia is looking for a Systems Administrator. The role will involve managment and administration of IT systems, ensuring the high availability and security of business applications and services. This role also involves supporting the planning and implementation of policies and procedures for system provisioning, maintenance, and compliance with company goals and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

Contribute to capacity planning and develop long-term system and software strategies with end-users and colleagues. Assist with disaster recovery, policy, and regulatory compliance planning. Help prepare budget estimates for hardware and software expenses. Implement desktop and server systems using industry best practices. Deploy and maintain workstations, servers, printers, firewalls, encryption, and other security systems. Manage on-premises server hardware/software and IaaS (cloud services). Support Technical Support Engineer with workstation configurations, peripheral device installations, user account management, and troubleshooting. Ensure secure communications and connectivity, including LAN, intranet, and internet services. Maintain physical inventory of systems, network equipment, and tools. Ensure data integrity and security, performing audits and routine system backups/restores. Resolve helpdesk tickets and coordinate with vendors for service support. Perform system repairs, upgrades, patches, and reconfigurations. Research emerging technologies and support procurement processes. Develop and maintain internal IT procedures and training documentation. Assist in deploying and maintaining automated pipelines in Azure DevOps. Support database infrastructure and performance optimization. Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Information Systems.

Preferred Skills

Experience with network management, personal computers, servers, and operating systems (Windows, Linux, Cisco IOS). Proficiency in Windows desktop/laptop installations and Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with firewalls, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, IIS, and SharePoint. Strong local area network administration skills. Experience with troubleshooting hardware/software issues. Ability to write and maintain administrative scripts and documentation. Knowledge of data privacy laws and best practices.

Qualifications & Education

College degree in computer science or a related field, plus 2+ years of relevant experience. Certifications or ongoing education in Microsoft technologies is preferred.

Work Conditions

Hybrid work schedule, with a minimum of two days per week in the office. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual tasks related to network and system setup.
